The nature of the brewing industry has consistently shown to be ripe for the energy efficiency picking. Beer brewing and processing is complex and energy intensive. Internal and external pressures on the industry to reduce costs have led to the brewery sector being progressive in terms of energy efficiency. Despite significant technological improvements over the last 20 years, energy consumption, water consumption, waste water, by-products and emissions remain major environmental challenges in the brewing industry.
